Position of traffic sign obscures cars emerging from Newnham Hill Bottom

Drivers coming down the hill from Stoke Row often take a short cut up Witheridge Hill. They take this left turn at high speed, having come down a long hill. For cars emerging from Newnham Hill Bottom this is becoming hazardous and is resulting in regular near misses. Part of the problem is that they right turn 'chevron' sign before the junction actually obscures cars emerging from Newnham Hill Bottom, making the problem worse. Could this chevron sign be relocated before there is a serious accident?
