Overgrown hedge obstructing the public footpath

Reported via desktop in the Hedges category anonymously at 15:41, Thursday 25 June 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This issue was previously reported under Council ref: ENQ261074938, however the report was closed with the assessment that no immediate intervention was required.

I would like this decision to be reconsidered. The hedge has grown outwards and extends into the pedestrian space. While there may appear to be sufficient clearance when viewed from photographs or a desk-based assessment, the obstruction becomes apparent when actually walking along the footpath.

The hedge significantly reduces the usable width of the path and forces pedestrians to duck, step around the obstruction, or move closer to the road. In practice, the footpath is effectively unusable for many pedestrians, particularly those with mobility issues, carrying bags, pushing prams, or who are visually impaired.

I request that the site be inspected in person from a pedestrian's perspective, as the extent of the obstruction and its impact on safe passage are not fully evident without walking the route. The hedge requires cutting back to restore the full width and safe use of the public footpath.
