Blocked & overgrown footpath

Please will the council do something about the ‘missing’ footpath in Mill Street Wantage – that below the Camel roundabout leading down into town. It is almost impossible for pedestrians to use it and it is impossible for anyone pushing a child in a Buggy/Pram. The width of path is down to just centimetres in places and people are having to walk in the road. Thius is bad enough but drivers are 1) Speeding well over 20mph down here and 2) drivers are being dangerous and driving almost right up to the pedestrian (who has no choice but to walk in the road) sounding their horn at them (obviously the pedestrian can see the vehicle so there is no need for the driver to do this) and intimidating the pedestrian. It should be over 1m wide and useable for a Wheelchair. But it’s not. You can even see where the footpath should be as the lampposts have almost disappeared (see photo) and they are not even at the furthest extent of the path anyway !!! Also, when the council or its subcontractors do eventually cut back the vegetation and expose the hidden footpath will they NOT do what they did last time and leave half of the cut vegetation strewn across the footpath blocking it and keeping it dangerous !!!!

  • So.....17th July, roughly 6 weeks after this report, and .........nothing. Zilch. Yadder.

    I walked back from town today and I know and I know how bad & dangerous the footpath is here (as do the council but they obviously do NOT care - but take our money anyway) and was very nearly hit by a car (speeding yet again !!!!!) because I HAVE NO CHOICE, in parts, other than to walk right on the edge of the kerb and my left arms was almost smashed by the car's wing mirror.

    Thanks for your consideration and action council !! Keep taking our £millions then !!!
