Lamp post has been knocked over and street name sign damaged.

Reported in the Street lighting category anonymously at 14:41, Sat 10 December 2016

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 4 minutes later

Sometime this morning, a lamp post has been knocked over. I am unable to say for sure, but as the refuse lorry was in the street thia morning and there was a car parked nearly opposite the lamp, it may, and I simply say may(!) have caused the damage.

  • The refuse collection firm working on behalf of WODC have accepted liability for this. Are you able to apply any pressure to get this fixed please?

  • Unfortunately not, we are still only able to carry out structural and electrical emergencies in the first instance. We are replacing columns as and when we are able to do so.

  • This issue is still outstanding some twenty months after the event. The contractor (Kier) working under contract to WODC has accepted liability. Therefore, their insurance will cover the cost of repair. Can we please have this resolved before the darks nights are here again?

  • Thank you for your report regarding the hit/missing column.

We have the lighting column on a list of replacements to be programmed as soon as we can. Due to only having an interim contractor at present works can take a little longer to be completed but we can assure you this is on the replacement list.
