Multiple potholes - impossible to avoid now

Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 00:24, Saturday 28 February 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

These potholes which stretch from the Freeland turning into the A40 up to the pedestrian crossing heading Eastbound have been getting worse and worse. No attempt has been made to repair this stretch of road, even though multiple reports have been made since Nov 2025. Now it is virtually impossible to avoid the deepening ones on the pedestrian crossing (left hand side). Should have all been fixed when first reported as now very little road surface left without a pothole on this stretch. Please fix asap.

  • Still multiple potholes - very dangerous on an A road

  • This is insanity! These huge gaping potholes have been reported so many times and each time we are told they don’t meet the repair threshold! What a complete and utter joke. I walk across the A 40 twice a day and ALL traffic - huge lorries , cars and motorbike swerve towards pedestrians waiting to cross to avoid these holes. They MUST be repaired. They are incredibly dangerous. The state of the roads in West Oxon is embarrassing. I am ashamed to be reporting this AGAIN!

  • I also don’t understand why these reports keep getting closed or labelled as “investigating” and then nothing done to fix these potholes. There are potholes at multiple locations along this stretch of the A40 between the junctions with Eynsham. What was a smaller problem to fix when first reported (numerous times) has now become a big problem- look at the area before the pedestrian crossing and the region by the roundabout as you leave Eynsham- the road is full of potholes. Surely there’s nothing further to investigate months later? This major route, the A40, is a total disgrace! It would be helpful if the council can provide residents with information regarding when repairs will actually be carried out rather than keep closing the reports!
