Shambolic Roadworks - zero oversight

Reported via desktop in the Current Roadworks - live information category anonymously at 12:45, Saturday 14 February 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This is the worst time of year to carry out roadworks; it's cold, dark, wet and no-one is on holiday so peak traffic time. Yet this shambolic scheme has gone ahead with zero thought for minimising the duration or impact on the free movement of people and goods through Banbury. The timing of the temporary lights is unco-ordinated requiring 5-10 cycles to get through each light.

Worst of all an extremely biaised and ideoligical view has gone into the design of the scheme; a scheme that will increase journey times per mile travelled. And all in favour of those empty, tax payer subsidised, buses that noone wants to use, or in any practical sense can for daily life.

The works should be removed in the daytime and carried out only at night. And the whole scheme should be investigated for miss appropriation of tax payer funding and S.106 funding that should have been used to increase capacity for cars, vans, lorries to offset all the extra Oxfordshire housing dumped into Banbury.

Yet another schocking waste of money from the Council that wasted hundreds of millions of tax payer money on Castle Quay shopping centre.
