Lamp posts in middle of cycle lane because white line at edge of cycle lane has worn away
Reported via mobile in the Potholes and maintenance category anonymously at 20:50, Monday 9 February 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
There used to be a white line marking the edge of the cycle lane at this section, and going round the lamp posts. Without this line then the lamp posts are effectively in the middle of the cycle lane because the whole tarmac area becomes the cycle lane. The lamp posts are not very visible in the dark. Would be good if the white line could be repainted and the lamp posts could be made more visible.

This is the first lamp post approaching from the east (picture taken from the cycle bridge, facing east). You can see where the white line marking the edge of the cycle track has worn away and does not mark the lamp post out as being outside the cycle track. (I think until recently this lamp post had some conspicuous yellow tape on it, because it needed a repair. It was better while the tape was on it, as it was more visible.)
