Recurring flooding in cycle lane on Banbury Road

Reported via desktop in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 22:59, Sunday 8 February 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Persistent flooding occurs in the cycle lane on Banbury Road on the church side of the road. Water regularly pools in the cycle lane, reducing visibility of the road surface and forcing cyclists to swerve into traffic.

Issue appears to be recurrent and likely related to drainage rather than a one-off weather event. This is a heavily used cycling route and the flooding presents an ongoing safety risk to cyclists.

  • Still a big problem and has been all winter. Flooding seems to persist even after a day of sunshine and forces cyclists (and sometimes motorists) into oncoming traffic. A large puddle emerges after only a bit of rain too. Seems like a drainage issue. Accident waiting to happen, especially at night.
