  • The pothole caused immediate and significant damage, resulting in the sudden deflation of my tyre and damage to the wheel this evening. The impact was severe and unavoidable given the road conditions.

I observed another vehicle already stationary ahead with hazard lights activated, which strongly suggests this defect had already caused at least one prior incident this evening.

There was no safe location to stop on this section of road, leaving me in a vulnerable and hazardous position, particularly as I was travelling with young children in the vehicle. The situation created not only financial loss through vehicle damage, but also posed a clear and unacceptable risk to the safety of my passengers, myself and no doubt the occupants of the other stranded vehicle.

  • Claimed our tyre yesterday evening (12th Feb). Lone female and child left feeling vulnerable - RAC rescue a shambles, gave a recovery time of between 3AM and 6AM the next day. Potholes filled with rainwater on dark nights and unlit roads are difficult to spot and dangerous. You can’t even dodge some potholes anymore, as you’re then faced with another one close by.

  • I hit this pothole 5th Feb going about 25mph, after my partner hit it the previous evening and left his car at family's house that night. (He reported the pothole after I hit it). It shredded my nearside front tyre and bent my wheel, so I had to take the day off work to get that repaired.

I booked an early MOT (2 weeks early) so I could get the alignment done on my car today and found out the other tyre also has a gouge out of it and the rear suspension bushes on both sides of my car (front suspension) is also damaged, causing a fail on the MOT and costing me a lot in repairs.

My garage thankfully is allowing me to create a payment plan for this repair but worth getting it checked for others who have also had this issue. What a stressful and expensive two weeks!
