The stream of water that runs down Chatterpie Lane from Stonesfield Road in Combe is causing flooding

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category by Debra Wilkes at 14:27, Wednesday 4 February 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The stream of water that runs down Chatterpie Lane from Stonesfield Road in Combe is causing flooding At the junction to bungalows. It’s the main route on foot for children going to school and residence. It’s been over a month now and it’s repeated every year. It’s causing so much damage to the banks and the road surface. The silt and dirt washed down causes a slippery surface in winter and a dust bowl in summer. Potholes are created and are not possible to see under all the water causing damage to vehicles. I fell while trying to negotiate the path over the bank as the stone edging has come loose. There was no flooding when it rained whilst the sinkhole was there last summer. There needs to be a drain put in where the sinkhole was to the underground pipe that takes the rainwater away. It needs to be an urgent repair as this road is used when stonesfield road is closed for repairs which is often. Please please please do something. The sewage gets into the puddle when the water goes over the manhole which is often. You can see toilet paper and poo coming out, it’s a health risk. Disgusting

  • Deeper now, now road signs warning of flooding to motorists after a month of flood, no banks either side and very slippery nderfoot. Cars are driving through too fast and soaking pedestrians, also damaging the banks by washing away topsoil
