Mud blocking drainage 18 Jack Straw's Lane

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 11:05, Tuesday 3 February 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council 1 minute later

Drainage on Jack Straw's Lane is usually bad but made worse by this builder regularly blocking the drain with mud from the site. Can someone have a word?

  • All storm drains link to main (storm) drains, which are maintained by Thames Water. Many of the storm mains are not large enough anymore for the capacity of water that can fall in flash flooding situations.
Once the mains are full no further water can be drained away, and can sometimes cause water to surcharge back up the gully causing puddles to form around the gully or drain.
Once it stops raining the storm main will slowly drain away meaning the current puddle will also drain away. If the issue persists once the rain has stopped then we can investigate further.
