Verge eroded leaving wheel-wrecking drop

The verge at the edge of the lane has been eroded by the flow of the water that flows down the edge of the road instead of the drainage ditches and gullies. This has left a significant drop down from the edge of the tarmac that could wreck a wheel. This is a single-track section of road, so vehicles do have to go off the road to pass each other.
