Pothole

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 16:47, Thursday 22 January 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Pothole in lane 1 right by the now closed off layby, looks quite deep as I avoided it earlier today, only a matter of time before it gets bigger or someone hits it.

Council ref: ENQ261076015

  • This pothole is horrendous! it needs urgent attention. Today a scooter rider swerved to avoid. Nearly hitting cars. There will be death here if you don’t deal with it, this is a very busy road.

  • We use this daily and the pothole has grown - it is really dangerous and nearly caught my learner driver son out (though he was aware it was there). It is on a corner and not very visible till the last moment but should be a high priority to fix or could cause a serious accident.

  • Please fix this pothole by the A40 layby (now closed). This is a massive hazard to public safety on a very busy road. Several cars have already gotten flat tyres here and someone is surely to get hurt soon.

  • I hit this pothole today driving home, gave me an instant flat tyre, this pot hole has been there for a while and getting bigger/deeper.

  • I hit this pothole on my way to work this morning at approximately 7am. (10/02/26) It is impossible to see in the dark but the worst I have experienced. A bold statement given the current state of our roads. It gave me and my car the most tremendous jolt and was a very frightening experience. My car is now being investigated for damage.

  • Large kidney shaped pothole 90cm x 80cm x10cm. Not visible in dark or wet. Deteriorating rapidly and dangerous on such a busy major road.

  • Oxfordshire County Council have a duty of care to get this fixed immediately - it's no good taking 3 weeks (and counting) to "investigate" this or any other significant road defect, you should be out there checking as soon as someone reports it, and performing a proper repair within 48 hours. Anything less is unacceptable.

  • This pothole is extremely dangerous due to its position. It’s unavoidable when traffic is heavy (most of the time!). Almost impossible to see in the dark and wet. Getting worse daily. Please fix!
