Blocked/collapsed drain (again!)

Reported via iOS in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 16:26, Wednesday 21 January 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

On entering Bunkers Hill on the A4095 the drain on the left has again collapsed and become blocked causing excessive flooding whenever it rains. The drain can’t be seen by cyclists and th flooding of the road is dangerous as people pull the other side to avoid the flood causing problems with oncoming traffic. This seems to be a fix and repeat problem with this drain but needs sorting permanently before there is an an accident.

  • Due to the road being totally flooded this evening from one side to the other there has now been an accident and a car has ended up in the field opposite the drain. This needs urgent attention!

  • The vehicle was recovered this morning. Presumably the council will need to come and remove the police tape and the car parts left behind!

  • The flooding on this road from the drain not working is now covering both lanes and deep enough that cars swerve or make sudden stops. This will break cars catalytic convert which are not cheap plus other issues. Urgenct repair required

  • Road flooded completely across road as is footpath to bus stop. Cannot walk on road due to flood and the drain being dangerous making it very unsafe to access the bus stop. Road also flooded under the old railway bridge. We need warning signs for the flooding and a solution asap

  • Reported on 4th that parts of the recovered car were left in the hedge. They are still there. This is a danger not just to wildlife (field frequented by deers) but also to other drivers if they also end up in the hedge due to the road still not sorted. It is extremely dangerous. People are entering Bunkers Hill on the right side of the road due to the flooding…there will be another accident if this is not sorted and judging by the number of near head on misses, it will be a lot worse than the last.
