Flooding to a maximum depth of 1.5 feet. Traffic cannot safely proceed along highway

Reported via mobile in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 21:33, Thursday 15 January 2026

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Standing surface water in this specific section of Sutton Wick Lane is common, however on the evening of 15/01/2026 (Observer at 21:10) an unknown factor has caused the day's rainfall to cause significantly more standing water to sit on the road than normal. At the highest depth I have observed it is approximately 1.5 feet of water, and it has reached the front porches of some neighbouring residences. The standing water also extends to the pavements on both sides of the carriageway. This has rendered the section of road impassable to motor traffic due to water depth. The depth of the water is problematic for pedestrians: As an able bodied adult I was able to wade through, but a vulnerable pedestrian such as a child or those with limited mobility would be unable to safely walk through the water. Action is kindly requested to remedy the cause of this excessive standing water and enable safe passage along the highway for motorists and pedestrians.
