Water on the road due to broken and blocked drains
Reported via mobile in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 18:27, Thursday 15 January 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The water on the road on Bridge Street is not far off the height of the pavement and splashing pedestrians. With the forecast of rain all next week there is concern that the drains that are blocked and broken increase the risk of flooding in the future.

Thank you for your report. Our gully cleansing contractor has encountered difficulties in clearing the pipes to restore the drainage system’s functionality. The Oxfordshire County Council will now conduct additional investigations to determine the root cause of the drainage system failure and propose a solution. While we oversee highway drainage, it’s essential to consider other potential factors. These may include involvement from other service providers like Thames Water, or the issue could be related to a private ditch, stream, or culvert.
