Deep surface water and poor drainage
Reported via iOS in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 18:12, Thursday 15 January 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
There is a large amount of surface water on the road and poor drainage on the A4130 ABINGDON ROAD in ROWSTOCK, HARWELL between the junction of FEATHERBED LANE & MILTON HILL. This covers both side of the entire road and has been an issue for sometime. The water is deep and cars travelling at excess of 60mph are blinding other road users and drenching cyclists that use this route frequently. Visibility is poor with no street lighting and this is a fast road on a tight bend. The water goes over your car and doesn’t give you enough time to react and increase your wiper blade which is also ineffective anyway. The water freezes when it gets cold.
Unable to take a photograph due to the fast and wet road conditions and coverage over 200 - 800 metres. This is a main arterial route in and out of HARWELL, DIDCOT and WANTAGE accessing major roads such as the A417 and A34. HGVs and buses including cars and cyclist use this heavy congested route.
Drainage needs investigating at the camber needs sorting out. This unfortunately is an accident waiting to happen especially with the increase in wintery wet conditions and an issue previously reported but not fixed.
