Ice making road treacherous.
Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 18:08, Saturday 10 January 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
Sheet ice here on the road & pavement outside the retirement flats, where floodwater from the failed SUDS is carried up the road by cars & freezes. Could this be gritted on frosty nights until you have fixed the drains? Or perhaps a temporary grit bin could be placed here?

Thank you for your report. The Oxfordshire County Council typically salts roads between November 1st and March 31st, although this period may be extended if weather conditions necessitate it. Our commitment is to maintain major roads free from ice, reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring smooth traffic flow. Precautionary salting, also known as “gritting,” plays a crucial role in achieving this goal.
For information on specific Oxfordshire routes that are routinely salted during the winter, you can visit the One Network website and select “gritting routes” under driver information.
All new requests for salt bins are assessed by Oxfordshire County Council. If you’re interested in obtaining a salt bin, you can purchase one through your town or parish council. Before making a request, it’s advisable to contact them first.State changed to: Investigation complete
