Ice - accidents again another year on....
Reported via desktop in the Ice/Snow category by Keith Holdsworth at 14:24, Saturday 3 January 2026
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
As reported many many times, there are regular accidents on this Z-bend and hill due to ice. The most recent this morning - with forecasts of ice overnight, and heavy snow in our area from 22:00 4th Jan to 00:00 5th Jan to sit on top of sheet ice. No warning signs yet again (why can't we have permanent ones on posts??)

The ice areas are marked in blue - including the steep hill and blind z-bend. These are most treacherous as there are trees that obscure from the weak winter sun, so they never clear unless the ambient temperature is high-enough. If cars meet in opposite directions in these parts, they collide as cannot control under braking. Non-local traffic is particularly susceptible. The other blue lines through Field Assarts (OX29 9NQ) are marked as they also do not clear due to shadows from the properties on the south side of the road.
