Road surface collapsing

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:05, Sat 20 December 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Every time it rains the road floods, now to a level that threatens hoses. The drains are totally blocked. As a consequence the road surface is collapsing. We’ve been reporting this over and over and over. Before long the road will need totally resurfacing, but that will be pointless unless the blocked drains are cleared because it will quickly be back to this state.

  • Still ongoing issue with the road being flooded due to drain blocked, but it has caused so much damage to the road, I ride a motorcycle and it is incredibly difficult to come through, especially when flooded.

  • You emailed to ask for further photos. This is difficult because the collapsing road is only visible after a number of days of dry weather, because after a single days rain the road floods completely (see separate flooding report) and this is causing the collapse. I have a video show it all, taken a few weeks ago when it didn’t rain, but you don’t allow the posting of videos. Have attached a photo taken this morning. Under that water are deep and growing trenches, holes and collapsing edges. It’s already difficult to drive over and getting worse.

  • The road surface is now crumbling and collapsing, as it has been underwater for months this winter and spring. The drainage works needs to be carried out to resolve the flooding issues and then a road resurfacing to make this road safe.
