Good morning,
I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to enquire about the possibility of installing additional road signage for a dangerous bend just outside our village.
Over the past six months there have been three vehicle accidents at this location, including a serious incident in which a motorcycle entered the bend at speed and collided with an oncoming car. This morning, we woke to find yet another vehicle that had left the road and crashed into the shrubs, with police tape now surrounding the area.
Although the road is signed at 60 mph, this particular bend must be taken at a much lower speed. The bend is not visible from the straight section of road until drivers are almost upon it, which has contributed to multiple accidents, particularly for drivers unfamiliar with the area who may not have sufficient time to slow down safely.
Additionally, two months ago a vehicle took the bend too fast and struck a road sign on the opposite side of the junction. That sign remains damaged, and there was no apparent police attendance at the time, which raises concerns as to whether the incident was formally reported.
This area is especially concerning due to the presence of small children within the village, frequent wildlife crossings, and a public footpath located directly on the bend. Taken together, these factors make the current situation exceptionally hazardous.
While it is difficult to describe the exact location in writing, it is on the B4507 outside of Ashbury at the Kingstone Winslow junction (SN6 8) I believe that clearer advance warning signage indicating a sharp bend could significantly reduce the risk of further accidents.
