30 cm deep pothole
Reported via mobile in the Pothole category anonymously at 09:09, Thu 11 December 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
This 300mm2 pothole is the second time the edge of this large repair has completely broken up leaving a large and deep (50mm) hole right in the route of bicycles, motorcycles and nearside car wheels. It is another example of a substandard repair which should be immediately repaired to prevent another accident on a route regularly used by cyclists and the issues should be addressed with the contractor and surveyor who clearly did not specify an appropropriate repair in the first place. This substandard specification has now lead to a number of follow up visits, leading to extra cost and waste of resources. We have also reported this whole section of road as needing full resurfacing a number of times yet nothing is done. Thank you

This pothole is now significantly larger and is getting worse by the day as the previous repair disintegrates. Photo from dashcam, 12:19pm on 17-Jan-2026.

A large and very dangerous pothole. A pothole measuring approximately 280 cm × 140 cm and 15 cm deep caused severe and immediate damage to the left front tyre, forcing me to stop and call roadside assistance for a replacement. The incident occurred at 18:00 on Tuesday, 27 January, while I was driving on the unfamiliar Islip Road. At the time, weather and visibility conditions were extremely poor. It was heavily raining and already dark, and oncoming traffic further reduced visibility, making it unsafe to deviate suddenly or take evasive action. Under these conditions, the pothole was completely obscured and could not reasonably have been seen or avoided. The accompanying photograph was taken the following morning.
