Permeable brick drainage system floods in persistent rain..

Reported via desktop in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 11:56, Thu 4 December 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The Orchard, Brighthampton, Witney OX29 7QT

This road has been made with a permeable brick drainage system and there are no drains. This then floods whenever we have persistent rain and it is particularly bad just outside our property, No 1 The Orchard.

Often it also floods the pavement and I am concerned if the weather continues to worsen it will flood across our drive and up to our property. My 87 year old mother (who lives here too) walks with a walking aid and she cannot wade through this if it floods the pavement so then cannot go out until it recedes.

We have lived here for nearly 4 years now and haven't seen anyone come to maintain this road. Would it be possible for someone to come and assess it? Would it be possible to add a drain outside our property?
