This is a really deep pot hole that thumped our 4x4.

This pothole is on the A420 carriageway travelling towards Swindon. Has been there for a few months but still doesn’t seem to have been fixed.

There are at least 20 potholes just before the railway bridge going west here and they have got worse in the last week to 12 Feb. 2026. One is at least 3 feet wide causing a need to swerve to miss it or suffer possible suspension damage, This is a 50 mph fast section of road and now quite dangerous to drive.

These multiple potholes are dangerous! As it is fairly fast road 50mph, cars a suddenly braking to either go through the potholes or swerve around them!

Please come and fix these huge, dangerous potholes immediately! Theyve been reported time and again and nothing has been done! There is going to be a serious accident here with fast moving traffic and vehicles swerving to avoid this treacherous road surface

Today I was heading towards Swindon and cars, vans and trucks were braking suddenly then swerving to avoid these pot holes which have now become even larger and more numerous. When the larger vehicles swerve they enter the flow of oncoming traffic. A month ago some yellow spray painted lines appeared by them but nothing else has happened since. Really worried there is going to be an accident, and quite surprised this major route has been left in this condition for so long.

These potholes are dangerously, even Lorries are now swerving onto the opposite carriageway to avoid them. They need fixing now before someone is killed.

"Action Scheduled" on 01 December 2025 it says, yet here we are in April 2026 and still nothing has happened yet? There are now multiple reported issues extending approx 500m east of Acorn Bridge, as shown on this very website. All are dangerous and getting progressively worse.

Please come and fix this issue straightaway. Im risking my car and my safety every time I go to and from work! So frustrating to tell the council who have a legal responsibility to maintain these wretched roads over and over again and yet be totally ignored. THIS ROAD IS DANGEROUS!! THERE IS GOING TO BE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT!

These potholes are absolutely awful! How a serious accident hasn’t happened yet is a miracle. Just out of interest are you waiting for somebody to be killed?!

Saying 'Action Scheduled' and then not doing anything is simply not good enough. Come and fix this deathtrap of a road immediately before someone is killed. Where is my road tax going? Why am I compelled to maintain my car in a roadworthy condition when the roads themselves are totally unsafe?! It makes no sense

The A420, between the Shrivenham Junction and Acorn Bridge (heading towards Swindon) is in a terrible state as the road surface has failed in a number of places. As numerous people have already said, the road surface requires attention as a number of these potholes/trenches are over 75mm deep and between 1 and 25 metres long. If attention is not forthcoming then vehicles will be damaged, there will be more near misses and, given enough time, there will be accidents. Vehicles are having to use the opposite side of the carriageway to avoid the damaged road surface and with it being a 50mph limit, you’re looking at a closing speed of 100. The A420 is a Trunk Route and at the very least, remedial repairs should have been made by now.

Cars are braking and swerving all over the road in an attempt to avoid these huge craters which are so large and numerous that they are impossible to drive around. Dangerous in the daytime when you know the road but absolutely lethal at night on this fast major carriageway. Unbelievable that the road has been allowed to continue in this appalling state when warnings and reports go back months?! Come and fix immediately before someone is killed.

Please come and fix this incredibly dangerous section of road straightaway! 'Action' was scheduled months ago and STILL nothing has been done! The craters are getting bigger and more lethal to cars every day. Why is this situation being ignored by the council when they have a legal obligation to maintain the roads in a safe condition (section 41 of the Highways Act 1980). THERE IS GOING TO BE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT HERE. PLEASE COME AND FIX IT!!!!

I reported this stretch of road between the Shrivenham turn off and heading towards Swindon by Acorn bridges months ago. The potholes are getting larger and larger and are dangerous. People are braking and trying to avoid them by driving into the layby or on the other side of the road. Please fix them.

Another part of my car FUCKED from not being able to avoid some of the pot holes, can't wait to bill Oxfordshire Council for not doing their job, hope everyone bands together and stops paying council tax to these lazy shites that can't do their job properly

Several serious sets of potholes on the southbound carriageway between shrivenham and the rail bridge. Those familiar with the area weave across the road to avoid vehicle damage which the oncoming traffic clearly find alarming
