Zebra crossimb ahead road signs needed

I use this crossing daily walking my child to primary school. Now that it’s dark it’s really obvious there’s a problem with drivers not seeing pedestrians waiting to cross or even already I the road using the crossing. The addition of ‘zebra crossing ahead’ signs would help with visibility & awareness for drivers, currently there is no signage. This is a major route between two primary schools in town used by so many families each day. Our experience is that 25-50 per cent of drivers are not seeing us in the dark when we are approaching the crossing or even waiting right beside it waiting for them to stop, as many drivers don’t. This is despite us wearing a bicycle light as we walk! I have had two experiences today where I have had to physically wave my arms to stop traffic approaching from quite a distance but not even slowing. It’s so dangerous. It’s very difficult to teach kids about road safety anyway, when their main route to school has crossings that are a lot less safe than they could be. Therefore please add zebra crossing ahead signs to around this crossing, it may help a little bit at least.

Sorry, checking in daylight I see that there are Zebra Crossing ahead signs nearby, but these are clearly not being noticed by drivers. One sign (coming from the direction of the town centre) is placed on a lamp post on a footpath/verge raised about 1.5m above the road, so the sign itself is out of the eye line of car drivers, and will disappear above their windscreen/roof before they approach. It has flashing lights that I guess operate at end of school day (though I have never seen them on), and this is no help to children who attend afterschool clubs so are coming home later in the dark. Could the sign be lowered / moved and with permanent lighting at night?
