New fence obscures vision at dangerous junction

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 10:37, Tue 18 November 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The corner cottage on Mill Lane has installed a new fence. It totally obscures the vision of drivers wishing to emerge from Mill Lane on to Wallingford Road as they look right for oncoming traffic.

Although there is a mirror at this junction it is not obvious eg to new users of the road and confusing at night.

This junction is already the scene of numerous scraps and near misses. Finding a solution to the now blocked view seems essential and urgent.

  • The first photo shows the view of the jun lion with Mill Lane from.Elvendon Road. the new fence is clearly identifiable. the second shows what a cardriver can see of the Wallingford Road when waiting in Mill Lane at the junction... about 40 metres at best. There is a mirror to help but the junction is known for prangs and near misses already so thats not solving the issue. Better safety for vehicles emerging from Mill Lane is essential. Note that they have to make a hill start so can easily shoot out into Wallingford Road
