Flooding

The low point in Chatterpie Lane sits at a confluence of three slopes. During any kind of rainfall, water drains and accumulates at the entrance to our close (No.40-48). It can be difficult to drive through and invariably leaves a mud pool making the road surface treacherous. In heavy rain it becomes completely impassable.
The reason for the ‘mini lakes’ is simply because the run off channel across the verge to allow drainage has not been maintained and is completely overgrown. This needs addressing before we get more persistent rain.

Three days after heavy rainfall this area is still flooded. I have lived here for 16 years and recently something has changed. The water always drains away within 24 hours but not any more. Possibly linked to the repair of the sinkhole last year? Drainage ditches on South side are completely full and clogged with dead leaves.

Chatterpie lane has been flooded every year, sewage is getting in from a manhole near the grass bank. The potholes all along the road regularly marked out for repair yet the repair isn’t completed. Flooding and cars are eroding the banks. Mud collects at the foot of the hill. The short period when there was a sink hole further up the lane towards Stonesfield Road, there was no flooding when it rained as the stream of water was going into the sink hole and down the rain water pipe. I don’t know why they didn’t put in a drain pipe at the time of repair to stop the floods of water from stonesfield road causing the flooding at the foot of the hill. This needs to be fixed immediately. It’s a health hazard.

The standing water in the hollow in Chatterpie Lane makes it almost impossible for walkers and cyclists to get through. Please place Flood warning signs , one at the road junction outside Chatterpie House where Chatterpie Lane meets the road to Stonesfield, and one on Chatterpie Lane outside WestField Farm. Thank you
