Reported via mobile in the Potholes and maintenance category anonymously at 12:52, Mon 10 November 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Please make the necessary repairs to this now busy road (more traffic than ever- still no weight limit- including numerous lorries and hgv’s) passing over daily and with cars parked on opposite side this side if the road is dangerous and beyond normal repair and requires major works to make fit for traffic.

  • Potholes are still unrepaired.

The potholes in this vicinity have water in them throughout the year, even when it is very dry and hasn't rained for months. Previous repairs have quickly broken back out. Clearly water from beneath the road is an ongoing issue in this area - needs a perforated pipe buried in a trench beneath the road and the water drained to the gulley at the end of Simons Lane - which runs underground to emerge in a ditch alongside Simons Lane before going underground again to come out into Trots Brook.

I have a few thoughts of reasons for water being a problem here. 1. a number of years ago re-roofing was carried out at the former waterworks/conduit (late 19th century) on Simons Lane, at which point the water was turned off - previously you could constantly hear running water and the tanks were full, now its silent and they are empty - maybe the water has backed up with nowhere to go and is emerging from the road and the lower part of the adjacent field. 2. there might be a large culvert to move water under the road here - similar to what was found at the junction of Fiddlers Hill and Trots Lane that has been damaged by modern utility company trenches. 3. spring beneath or close to the road.
