Blocked drain on Canal Road

Reported via desktop in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 13:53, Tuesday 14 October 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The exit drain from the recently cleared gully adjacent to parish noticeboard is almost completely silted up. Heavy rain will therefore inevitably lead to flooding of the road. This has clearly been an issue for a long period and needs urgent attention.

  • This drain on the verge outside Chapel Cottage on the other side of Canal Road from the village noticeboard is very badly blocked. A community working party at the weekend cleared the ditch where the drain exits between the canal and a small unclaimed piece of land next to the Thames Water pumping station. But the pipe between is heavily silted up. There are concerns that heavy rainfall could back up and flood property further back along the pipe
