Visibility splay unsafely impacted by vegetation

Reported via iOS in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 18:26, Monday 6 October 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

This report concerns obscured junction visibility splays at the T‑junction of station road (20 mph) onto A417 (30 mph). Under Manual for Streets/DMRB sightline standards, a 2.4 m X‑distance should provide clear Y‑distance visibility of at least 25 m for the 20 mph approach and 43 m along the 30 mph major road (subject to 85th‑percentile speeds). Dense tree and vegetation growth within the splay currently obstructs visibility between driver eye height (~1.05–2.0 m) and object height down to 0.6 m, contrary to required sightlines. Please arrange vegetation clearance within the visibility splay to restore the minimum 2.4 m × 25/43 m sightlines, or reassess Y‑distance if measured approach speeds exceed the posted 30 mph
