Poor Maintenance causing water pooling and house damp

Reported via desktop in the Footways and Pavement damage category anonymously at 16:43, Fri 3 October 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The was posted on the old system and was inappropriately closed. New tarmac was applied to the pavement before we moved in, while the house was unoccupied due to the previous owner dying and probate preventing sale. We move in last year and reported this issue. The pavement has been tarmacked, but not fully up to the wall and also covering the old drainage gullies. This means rainwater pools against the house walls and the water from the drainpipes have no gullies to run away from and no possibility of drainage. This has caused damp in the house walls. It has been investigated by your team and as we can't prove the damp wasn't there years before as we didn't live there we couldn't have any compensation. We have paid for the damp to be corrected. We were reassured that the issues with the tarmack and drainage would be fixed by the council, but they have not. To avoid us having to repeat damp treatment due to original cause which is due to the maintenance on the pavement this needs to be resolved please.
