I am writing to raise a safety concern about the cycle paths connecting Marston to Summertown, particularly around the B4495 Marston Ferry Road underpass in front of The Cherwell School, and the small cycle path between The Cherwell School and Ferry Leisure Centre.
There are several blind corners in these areas where visibility is severely limited. I cycle through this route around three times a week, and this morning I narrowly avoided a collision while exiting the underpass at the same time another cyclist was entering from the opposite direction. Neither of us could see each other until the last moment.
These blind spots feel like an accident waiting to happen, especially during the school term when the route is heavily used by children and teenagers travelling to and from school, as well as by other cyclists and pedestrians.
Installing round traffic mirrors at these blind corners—particularly at both ends of the Marston Ferry Road underpass and along the path by the leisure centre—would significantly improve visibility and reduce the risk of accidents.
