Bottom of Haseley Road flooded for the second time in one week

Haseley Road has flooded again after a short heavy shower. The gullies appear not to have sufficient capacity to drain the water from the road. The pipe that drains into the Gainsbridge Brook at Blenheim Drive from the culvert that runs down Haseley Road from the village is narrow and water backs up into the open culvert in front of Brookside Cottage, causing the front and back gardens to flood.
This is a safety issue also as pedestrians cannot see where the open culvert is when it is totally submerged in water. The verge next to the open culvert has also collapsed in places, making it unstable and dangerous for pedestrians.
Road debris including mud and gravel has been washed down the road, causing blockages in the gullies. Where the Gainsbridge Brook flows under the road at the sewage pumping station it slows considerably as there is a partial blockage caused by road debris, rocks and gravel that have accumulated over many years. The drainage capacity has been drastically reduced.
