Storm drains are blocked
Reported via mobile in the Blocked Drain / Gully category anonymously at 10:03, Wednesday 27 August 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The storm drains are blocked, leaving stagnant water and a really really bad smell. We can’t open our windows and the smell is strong enough that it blows into the house via the window vents.
There is stagnant water in several of the drains down our street, but for now we’re mostly concerned with the one outside our house.
The issue has been present since we moved into the property at the start of this month.

FYI Thames Water have already been out and said their services are working correctly. They identified that it was the storm drains that were blocked / not carrying away stagnant water and recommended reporting to the council to have them cleared and flushed.

Thank you for your report and for bringing this issue to our attention.
We’re pleased to let you know that this location is scheduled to be included in our annual gully emptying programme, taking place in November 2025. As part of this, all highway surface water drainage assets across the Parish will be thoroughly cleansed and jetted to help maintain effective drainage and reduce the risk of flooding.
