Road surface degradation including multiple potholes

Reported via desktop in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 15:34, Tue 19 August 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

In Wantage, on Newbury Street (A338) between the crossroads with Portway and Ormond Road all along Manor Road and all the way up to the Ridgeway, the road surface is degrading with multiple potholes both up and downhill (north and southbound). The degrading road surface has been an issue for years, partly due to a drain overspilling when it rains, but now the road surface is showing multiple potholes. Going uphill towards the Ridgeway the potholes can be straddled or go around them, but coming downhill is more dangerous due to the speed of vehicles. Some potholes are small and deep, others are shallow and large - hitting those at speed could be disastrous. I would be grateful if you could assess the road surface and potholes and consider repairing the potholes and resurfacing the road.
