Japanese knotweed on verge
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and Vale of White Horse District Council less than a minute later
This is an invasive species and illegal to cause or permit it to spread. Despite reporting this before, it has been flailed or mown when the verge has been trimmed, which risks further spread. This needs careful management and herbicide treatment later in the year after flowering.

Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly.
