Footbridge on verge of collapse

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council and West Oxfordshire District Council less than a minute later

The footbridge at the bottom of Bracken Close has rotted and is on the verge of collapse. The treadway has partially given way. I have taped off the area effected

  • Area has been fenced off. No safety signage or any updates as to when the bridge will be fixed. Pedestrians now forced to go a longer alternative route. Or, jump the brook

  • Thank you for your enquiry. We have raised a cat1 defect for the barriers to be secured and the debris to be cleared from the stream.

  • This continues to be a problem. Temporary fencing has been torn down and is unsafe and extremely unsightly. I feel that over 4 months in this state is unacceptable.

  • I think the problem is, that the original post that states the bridge is on the verge of collapse is not correct. Its fallen a little, but sat on a concrete plinth. People are risk assessing the crossing themselves. But I agree, the state of the area is unsightly and needs addressing.
