Missing 30mph reminder sign

Reported via mobile in the Traffic Signs category anonymously at 20:13, Wed 16 July 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

I have reported this before and was told there was no problem here. But there’s a big problem. There used to be a 30mph reminder sign between Crowmarsh roundabout and the turning (100m further on) to Cox’s Lane on the A4074 southbound. I believe it was knocked down in an accident in which a pedestrian was either seriously injured or killed trying to cross at the pedestrian crossing to the central reservation. Ironic that this is how the sign disappeared. It was never replaced. Without it, schoolchildren face daily peril crossing the main road, as do cyclists on the cycle route and cars trying to exit Cox’s Lane to cross to the northbound carriageway. Cars accelerate away from the roundabout often at 40 or 50 mph in what is supposed to be a 30mph zone. Indeed, traffic exiting Cox’s Lane is reminded that they are entering a 30mph zone, but the main road users are not reminded. It is only a matter of time before a child, cyclist or other road user is killed. For the sake of you erecting one little 30mph reminder. I am fed up with raising this with you. This time I am writing also to my MP. In response to my earlier reporting of this, I was asked to send a photo. I cannot send a photo of a sign that does not exist. Please don’t insult my intelligence by asking for this again. Just visit the site and try to cross the road!
