Pothole

Reported via desktop in the Pothole category anonymously at 14:03, Tue 15 July 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Reported previously and OCC advised it was not their responsibility. Oxford Brooks University that appear to have responsibility have advised today “After a full investigation by the ECS Building's Manager, he has found the boundary of the pothole area is not the responsibility of the University, and that of Oxford County Council.

Please seem his comments below:

“I have looked at the land registry documents regarding Brookes boundary and this pothole is the responsibility of Oxford County Council, and has therefore been reported to "Fix my Street"”

I cannot find their report. OCC and Oxford Brooke’s need to resolve between them.

Updates

  • Thank you for your enquiry. This issue has been passed onto the relevant team for investigation.

  • You need to deal with this between you before someone is killed or seriously injured as a result. This road was adopted by the local authority many years ago and the traffic management and parking signs demonstate. This road falls under the MS residential parking zone and is enforced as such, so not private, nor managed by Brooks.

  • Brookes facilities department has confirmed today 12th August 2025 that a contractor will fix the pothole on Monday. However, there is still uncertainty about the adoption of the road and who retains accountability. OCC legal dept need to resolve the matter with the Highways Dept and Brookes. Local Councillor did not respond to my plea for help.
