Verge protection posts knocked over and snapped

Reported via mobile in the Roads and Carriageways category anonymously at 14:53, Mon 14 July 2025

Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

A diversion has led to large vehicles being routed through Christmas Common. This has unfortunately led to the posts that were installed by Highways to protect the verge being knocked over or broken off. One has disappeared completely and that section of the verge is now routinely being used as a passing place. This has resulted in further verge damage.

  • These posts were not only put in to protect the verge, they were also to define the hardstanding opposite the Fox and Hounds Public House for parking. As can be seen from the attached photo, what was previously a successful system and requested by the parish council is no longer achieving itcs objective. This needs resolving, failing to do so will just make the task more difficult as the verge will also need restoring.
