  • Thank you for your report. With regard to ditches, we refer residents to the common law principle known as the "hedge and ditch rule." This generally states that responsibility for maintaining a ditch lies with the adjacent landowner. We recommend that you inform your Parish Council of this matter, as they are best placed to contact the landowner and request that the ditch be cleared.
