Fire on scrub land Thur 3rd July along public footpath. Believe Fire Engine on scene. All along footpath grass very high & dry and risk exists of further fires. At top of bank there is an office car park so not only risk to property but vehicles. Grass/Shrub needs to be cut down to reduce risk.

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
