Tree suffering drought
Reported via desktop in the Report a tree problem category anonymously at 14:44, Saturday 21 June 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
I reported this tree last July (FixMyStreet ref: 6237572) as it was newly planted and looked like it needed watering. It is much better this year, but on Thursday 19 June I noticed it was wilting. On Friday 20 June I had forgotten to report it, and noticed that a few leaves had crisped up and died. So I gave it 4 gallons of water from a watering can with rose, covering the area within the protector, i.e. most of the wood chip area. Today (21 June) I gave it another 4 gallons. If we don't get significant rain you might like to monitor it. (Location, corner of Croft Avenue and Evans Lane, OX5 2HU.)

This tree has lost a lot of leaves since I watered it last Friday and Saturday. None of the branches were without leaves before Friday. Clearly a lot of the leaves that were not crisped at that time were past saving. This tree needs tender loving care, not only this season but next year as well (in my opinion). I'm guessing TLC will be cheaper than replanting.
