Disintegrating road surface and water unable to get away on north-west side of the road
Reported via mobile in the Flooding on Road category anonymously at 09:41, Monday 9 June 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
We have been reporting this for well at least two years and all that has been done is to place red cones, one of which, near the war memorial, is badly broken and only visible once you are alongside it. There is also a traffic calming triangle which again is hardly visible and inappropriate; there are no calming bumps, just a disintegrating, flooding road. Several months ago we received a message to say the problem had been fixed. Was that the placing of the cones and sign? The fact that this has been going on for so long with no effective action or personal contact with people who own and live in houses in this part of Spring Lane suggests we are being ignored and there is no plan to do anything. It makes us feel that this site has no practical purpose apart from keeping us quiet for as long as possible.

Attached are three screenshots out of several taken from my computer screen concerning the state of the road surface in Spring Lane, Aston Tirrold since June 2024. Fix My Street stated on Thursday 20th February 2025 that the problem had been fixed. It is clear from my post and photograph on Monday 9th that it has NOT BEEN FIXED. It is obvious that no-one from the Council has inspected and that whoever was tasked with the job has either deliberately posted a false statement or considers that placing cones and "warning" signs along the road have solved the problem. I would suggest that whoever is in charge investigates. I would also ask that he or she reports directly back to all of those who have reported the problem with an explanation, a statement setting out the action that is to be taken to deal with it and a timetable.

Thank you for proactively bringing the drainage issue at Spring Lane to our attention. Your vigilance helps us maintain the quality of our highways. We are pleased to inform you that the Parish or Town of Cholsey is scheduled for gully emptying in the second quarter of this financial year. While severe weather may cause delays, we are committed to thoroughly cleansing all Highway Surface Water Assets in the area within this timeframe.
