Thank you for raising your concerns about accidents on this approach to the roundabout. We have reviewed the accident data and we note there have been no reported accidents to the Police at this location in the past three years.
We have reviewed the road marking design and it accords with the national standard set out in Traffic Signs Regulations and General Direction. There are two lanes on entry to the roundabout on the A338 and Mably Way and meets the required standards.
We also note that the developer was required to build this new roundabout as part of the Wantage planning permission for the new development to the east, and they have carried out an independent Road Safety Audit which highlighted no concerns with the layout.
Based upon this information, we do not believe there are any improvements required at this time. We will of course continue to monitor this location and review the design once the Developer is in a position to fully adopt this infrastructure in the coming years ahead.

There are 2 lanes when heading east as you reach the roundabout. This means traffic turning left gets caught by the temporary lights, but those turning right or ahead to the new relief road can move… until the morning of 6th November. One lane has now been coned off meaning it took 15 minutes from 10;00 to pass along Mably Way to the roundabout. The traffic was backing up along Denchworth Road. This is totally unnecessary and needs fixing - I’m surprised that the police didn’t notice that their route from the police station was blocked.
