Urgent Safety Concern: Poor Visibility and High Accident Risk on Villiers Road Bend

Hi,
I am writing to highlight a serious road safety concern on Villiers Road, specifically at a sharp bend where visibility is severely limited. This is due to both the angle of the bend and a very tall green hedge in the area, which significantly obstructs drivers' view. Additionally, the road is extremely narrow, making it particularly hazardous when vehicles approach from opposite directions.
As a local resident, I can personally confirm having narrowly avoided at least three accidents in this exact spot, where oncoming cars were suddenly in front of me with little to no warning.
Given the high risk of accidents in this area, I would like to suggest the installation of a traffic mirror on the corner of the road. This would greatly assist drivers and other road users in seeing around the bend and could help prevent potential collisions.
I kindly urge you to assess the situation and consider taking appropriate measures to improve safety on this stretch of road.

Thank you for your enquiry, However, the County Council do not provide or support the use of road mirrors on the highway. The image they provide can be misleading in terms of vehicle speed and distance giving drivers a false sense of security, potentially leading to vehicles emerging injudiciously. They are prone to vandalism, fogging in poor atmospheric conditions and glare from the sun or car headlights.
