Barriers at entrance to pedestrian alleyway cause impediment to mobilty scooters

Reported via mobile in the Other category by Cllr Rebecca Biegel at 08:48, Thu 22 May 2025

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

Banbury East Close, alleyway leading to Daventry Road. The barriers at entrance to the pedestrian alleyway are poorly aligned making access difficult for persons using mobility scooters to navigate. Slight realignment would help. This is a regular pathway for elderly people in East Close and surrounding area to access Dave try road and local community shops.

  • Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Looking at our information and mapping, this small alley falls outside of maintained highway and is considered private. Oxfordshire County Council is therefore not responsible for this problem and will not be able to take action due to it being private/maintained by another body.
