Verge drainge ditch requires clearing out

Reported via desktop in the Other category anonymously at 14:07, Monday 19 May 2025

Sent to Cherwell District Council and Oxfordshire County Council 38 minutes later

The drainage ditch along B430 in front of Oak View and opposite North Lane towards Ben Jonson is owned by OCC (not a land owner) and requires clearing please. The verge itself will be cut shortly by the Parish Council but the actual ditch is not possible to clear out without specialist machinery. The ditch allows water to flow off B430 and off from North Lane. When this is blocked with vegetation it inhibits the flow and causes a back log of water impacting residential properties. This was last cleared in 2019 and the growth within the ditch is too vast. Please contact the Parish Council to discuss if required. Many thanks

  • Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. After looking into the location of this issue, we have concluded that Highways England remain the land owner and thus the riparian owner of the ditch/watercourse that runs through it. This issue will need to be reported directly to them. Kind regards
