Pelican crossing slow/resets

Reported via desktop anonymously at 14:02, Thursday 8 May 2025

Sent to Oxford City Council and Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later

The pelican crossing on Headley way/Staunton Road intersection takes too long to turn green when the button is pressed, and sometimes resets without going green. Also, it is "silent", i.e. there is no sound when it is green for pedestrians/bicycles.

Council ref: ENQ251047135

  • Thank you for the FMS report. The timings are integrated with the junction, therefore can be longer at certain times of the day then you may expect from an independent crossing. Due to the close proximity of crossings at this junction that run independently; ‘audible bleepers’ cannot be used due to the risk of a visually impaired person mistaking the active crossing for another. The crossing has been checked by an engineer and found to be operating as intended without fault. If you continue to see an issue with the crossing resetting, please get back in touch.
