Grass on verges needs cutting
Reported via mobile in the Grass category anonymously at 17:12, Mon 28 April 2025
Sent to Oxfordshire County Council less than a minute later
The council have stated that they have returned to grass verges being cut 3 times a year. The grass at the end of the Slade by the horspath Driftway has been cut, and the grass at the end of the bypass at the roundabout on Horspath Road has been cut, but along the bypass pathway the grass is too long and has not been cut. It is now full of rubbish and dog waste as it is too long to see through properly, meaning there are also lots of flies. The grass verges needs maintaining along with the ends that have already been cut to ensure the public can safety walk along the area without more waste building up.

Thank you for your enquiry. Oxfordshire County Council, as the Highway Authority, is ultimately responsible for the maintenance of grass verges alongside the carriageway network throughout Oxfordshire (excluding motorways and trunk roads). Under our new approach, all roadside verges in both rural and urban areas are cut once a year. If necessary, we will trim areas that impede driver visibility more regularly. For more details, you can refer to our Highway Verge and Vegetation Management policy at https://www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/ sites/ default/ files/ file/ roads-and-transport-major-projects/ grasscuttingpolicy.pdf
